Launch of the New Book “Management of Social Responsibility” in Zurich
The comprehensive guideline for managing Social Responsibility - developed by Irène Perrin and Peter Teuscher of BSD Switzerland in partnership with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) - was launched at a vernissage in Zurich at end of June.
Over 90 people gathered in Zurich last week for the launch of the recently published book, ‘Management der sozialen Verantwortung in Unternehmen: Leitfaden zur Umsetzung‘ (Management of Social Responsibility: guideline for practical implementation).
At the event, Bruno Bischoff, a board member of the U.N. Global Compact Switzerland Network and Public Policy and Sustainability Affairs Representative at Credit Suisse, introduced the guideline as a ‘hands-on instruction for action and a welcomed framework for the systematic implementation of social responsibility.’
Because the principles of the U.N. Global Compact are very broadly defined, instructions and practical tools are particularly important. As a concrete guideline, the new book supports organizations in their management of sustainability in day-to-day business.
Dr. Ruth Blumer-Lahner, Head Corporate Quality, Environment, Safety, Health and Sustainable Development at Sulzer AG, highlighted, in her presentation, that with the current global challenges, there is an immediate need for individuals as well as organizations worldwide to commit to being socially responsible and to manage their social impacts systematically.
The new book, Management of Social Responsibility, addresses the issues posed by Blumer-Lahner, among other vital sustainability topics. The book provides organizations with contextual information, step-by-step instructions, case studies and a CD with Excel-Tools to further support organizations to better understand and their social impacts.
