Sustainability reporting is experiencing a variety of changes. Established frameworks for non-financial information are increasingly flanked by regulatory requirements as well as new information demands, especially from the financial market.
In this course you will learn the necessary basics to successfully design and manage your reporting process. The overview of trends and developments regarding relevant actors in the field of sustainability reporting raises practitioners’ awareness of looming changes and setting adequate expectations.
Session I – Benefits and Business Cases:
Overview of the most important arguments for sustainability reporting in companies
Session II – Overview of standards
Introduction to the most important standards, e.g. GRI, IIRC and DNK
Session III – Materiality:
Overview of the most important frameworks’ materiality definitions and introduction to the materiality analysis in practice
Session IV – Project management throughout the reporting cycle:
Practice-oriented overview of the steps and challenges of a reporting cycle
Session V – Current developments:
Overview and implications of current developments in sustainability reporting, e.g. SDGs, TCFD, EU Sustainable Finance Action Plan, EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Diversity
Session VI – EU Non-financial Reporting Directive:
Introduction on implementing the EU Reporting Directive requirements into sustainability reporting and lessons learned from the first reporting cycle

Thomas Petruschke is Managing Director of BSD Germany and has over ten years of experience in sustainability strategy, reporting and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining the BSD Group, he served in the sustainability reporting department of the Volkswagen Group as well as at the UNEP Centre on Sustainable Consumption & Production.
