Currently, companies face challenges in managing human rights within the company and in its supply chain. Likewise, measuring the progress of a sustainability strategy is key to ensure the success of the strategy; but there is still confusion about what indicators to use or what to measure in terms of sustainability.

This course will provide participants with the key aspects of two of the most internationally recognized standards in terms of sustainability and human rights in the company

The SA8000 Standard is the world’s leading certifiable social standard. It was created by the Social Accountability International (SAI) in 1997. It is based on international labor standards of the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Those companies that aspire to comply with SA8000® have adopted policies and procedures that protect the fundamental human rights of workers.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the most widely used sustainability reporting standard worldwide, which is currently in its GRI Standards version, version that will be of mandatory use as of July 2018.

The GRI Standards provide a tool to measure, manage and communicate the main sustainability risks faced by organizations. They contain guides to manage 33 economic, social and environmental aspects divided into 77 indicators.

During these two days of training, participants will be able to understand both standards and how to apply them in their organizations through local and international examples, case studies and working groups.

• Train participants the requirements of the SA8000 Standard, evidence of compliance and application examples.
• Provide key aspects of the audit in SA8000.
• Train participants in the GRI Standards: universal standards and thematic standards.
• Know the importance of the materiality process as a basis for a sustainability strategy.
• Strengthen the understanding of the sustainability report as a communication tool and as a useful tool in internal management.
• Provide key aspects of the external verification of sustainability reports prepared based on the GRI Standards.
• Disseminate examples and knowledge on best practices.
• Provide a forum for interaction between participants that allows the exchange of ideas and experiences.

• Managers or consultants involved with the management of sustainability, social responsibility, Human Resources or Community Relations.
• Consultants, advisors or auditors in human rights, social responsibility or sustainability.
• Managers of Integrated Management Systems (SIG) of companies or organizations.
