The Smart Campaign, housed at Accion’s Center for Financial Inclusion is a global effort to unite microfinance leaders around a common goal: to keep clients as the driving force of the industry. The campaign embodies a set of core principles for the treatment of clients - the minimum standards that clients should expect to receive when doing business with a financial institution - that can be used by actors in the financial sector to assess their performance against sound financial lending principles and receive a certification issued by the campaign. BSD Consulting worked with the campaign to develop a set of policies, procedures and processes for certifiers to be used by accreditation bodies in the on-boarding of certifiers. BSD also developed an extensive set of training materials for auditors including policies, manuals, presentations and handouts to be used by certification bodies to onboard and train auditors in the assessment of compliance by financial providers with the requirements of the Smart Campaign standards.
