With the heatmap analysis of BSD, the products purchased by ewz have been analyzed for sustainability hotspots, and ewz’s purchasing processes examined on the management of sustainability risks and opportunities. In particular, the product groups of the power supply systems, building technology systems, promotional items and textiles were examined with regard to the risks in the different lifecycle phases of these products and how pronounced these are (“heatmap”).
In a second step, relevant tools like the relevance matrix, criteria catalogue and declaration form were created or updated, which support buyers and stakeholders in the purchasing process. A company-specific, updated guide to sustainable procurement supplements the periodic training of the consumer.
The fact that the environmental delegates of the ewz business divisions are newly trained for sustainable procurement and can therefore support purchasers and stakeholders in the determination of the sustainability criteria ensures the permanent embedding of the topic. ewz thus promotes efficient integration of social and environmental criteria in the procurement of relevant products and services.
Further development of sustainable procurement at ewz
January 2015 - December 2016
Ewz is oriented towards the sustainability goals of the UNO. They ensure sustainable development on an economic, social and ecological level. In this context, ewz has examined and adapted its procurement practices on the basis of those sustainability goals. BSD Consulting Switzerland has been supporting ewz in this process since 2015.
