Launching of Radar’s Code of Conduct (Principles for Responsible Investment in Farmland)
Case Study

With the goal of keeping an alignment with other standards of sustainability compliance, BSD Consulting attempted to harmonize the Code of Conduct with a set of other codes applied on the rural sector, such as FLA (Fair Labor Association), BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), ABR (Algodão Brasileiro Responsável), Bonsucro e RTRS (Round Table for Responsible Soy).
This Code of Conduct will be presented personally to almost all of the Radar’s lessees through the ‘Sustainability Journey’ – which consist in visits to farms with the goal of promoting the sustainability practices on the sector – communicating the expectations with regards to the operations of the leased lands. It will also assist on the monitoring of the minimum requirements and better practices on agriculture, which are a result of the derivation of the five principles for a responsible agriculture.

Launching of Radar’s Code of Conduct (Principles for Responsible Investment in Farmland)

April 2016 - September 2016
Description

BSD Consulting Brasil supported the development of Radar’s Code of Conduct, a company from the Cosan group, responsible for the prospection, acquisition, management and sale of agricultural properties, currently managing areas with a sum of more than 290 thousand hectares, distributed into eight Brazilian states. The Code of Conduct presents the values and principles, both from Radar and its investors, which arise from the ‘Principles for Responsible Investment in Farmland’. Those principles were developed by a committee of signatories from the ‘UN Principles for Responsible Investment’ supported by the UN. Those investors united to establish the desirable governance practices in order to assure a high level environmental, social and ethical compliance for those who wish to invest in farmlands.
